Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.

When Pat's wife contacted me about making his birthday cake, the one thing she was immediately certain of was that it had to have chocolate....lots and lots of chocolate.     After a bit of discussion on decor, we decided on an Irish flag.  Below is the final result:

Both the cake recipe and the frosting recipe are new ones for me and both turned out really well!  The cake was really moist and the frosting compliments it perfectly, though this frosting crusted very quickly and was a bit difficult to work with.

Cake Details:  two chocolate layers of cake filled with chocolate buttercream and frosted
with chocolate buttercream.   Perfect for any chocoholic!

Happy Birthday, Pat!  I hope you guys enjoyed the cake!!

Tuesday

Spring is in the air....

When I think of Spring, I think of two things:  (1) Finally getting the jogging stroller out of the attic and going on long weekend jogs with my toddler; and (2) flowers, flowers and more flowers!

I made these cute little flower cupcakes for a charity event.

Aren't they simply adorable!?!

The cupcakes are White Almond Sour Cream and the flowers are made from Vanilla Buttercream.  yum!

I think that they are almost too pretty to eat....almost!

These are my first buttercream flower cupcakes and I'm so thrilled with how they turned out!!  I hope they are a hit at the event!

Oh, and HAPPY SPRING everyone!!

Monday

LOTS of new cakes coming soon!!

Stay tuned - in the next few weeks I'll be posting pics of a bunch of new cakes, including a very chocolate bday cake for a chocolaholic, a girly hot pink birthday cake for a shoe lover and a cannoli cake!!  YUM!
