I made this cake for a very good friend of mine to celebrate her buying her first home. This is my first ever Red Velvet cake and first ever cake with scroll work. *****
The frosting and the scroll work are buttercream. Though I didn't make the traditional icing that goes with Red Velvet (with nuts and coconut), the buttercream layer between the cake layers has finely chopped walnuts and flakes of coconut - yum!
This cake comes from my Southern Cakes cookbook and I've been wanting to make it for quite some time... Since it's Sonia's favorite, I figured that this was the perfect occasion!

ReplyDeleteOMG OMG OMG!!!! This red velvet cake was the best I ever had. Was amazing. My sis, was in town visiting and said it was better than any red velvet cake she had in Memphis. It looked amazing and taste even better. I was so pleased. Thank Thank Thank you!!!!
